Mike Severino - Drummer

Mike Severino has been playing drums since 1981. He has performed a wide range of musical styles, including Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Ska, Rock'n'Roll, Country, R&B, Funk, Latin, and Brazilian.

Throughout his musical career, Mike has had the oppurtunity to work with many great musicians. While working with Levon Helm and the Barnburners, he shared the stage with James Cotton, Jimmy Vivino and many other great American musicians. While touring with Blues veteran and Grammy Nominee Tony-O, Mike also had the oppurtunity to play with the great Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and jam with other Muddy Waters alumni. Also worth mentioning are the gigs Mike played with Grammy Award Winning Artist Joe Louis Walker in 2007-2008.

In June 2004, Mike flew out to London to lay it down for "punky-reggae" legend Ari-Up of the Slits at Morrissey's Meltdown Festival. Having a deep love for Reggae music, Mike is fortunate enough to play around the New York City area with Studio One veteran recording artist Judah Eskender Tafari.

Mike currently teaches drum lessons at his home studio in Mamaroneck, NY, and is available for studio work and live gigs. In addition to playing and teaching, he is also a respected author of an instructional book Drumset Basics: Rock And Funk Grooves

When not touring around the U.S. or abroad, you can catch Mike playing steppers and one drops around NYC, or maybe up in the Hudson Valley tearing the roof off some little club with one of The Hudson Valley's favorite guitarists, Pat O'Shea. Chava, Mike's wife is an extremely talented singer and instrumentalist, and together they have a duo group that performs her original songs, as well as many other styles, from jazz standards to reggae classics.
